You have spiritual gifts… and God can use em’

Watch the vid below, Christian Religion lie #9: “The Christian Life Is All Of Him And None Of Me” by Steve McVey and then my comments follow…

I think Steve nailed why it isn’t just “all of Him and none of me”… so I’m going to focus on the other part of this, what I see to be the really EXCITING part of it!

It’s about YOU…

Your life, your talents, your interests, your innate strengths, your dislikes, etc…

Why?

Because God gave you those innate skills, he didn’t intend for you to fit into a “cookie cutter” mold of being a “Good Christian”. No not at all! It’s ALL of you AND ALL of Him…

Great Christian living is when you’re allowing Christ to express his life through you, taking full advantage of your own unique, natural talents.

It’s like sun shining through a stain glassed window. The sun is DOING all the shining… but… the beautiful colors being projected on the other side are because of the the unique, amazing design of the window.

I hope you get this example, if not: sun=life of Christ, YOU=window, Your unique gifts=stained glass design, beautiful colors=what you and Christ co-create in this world–your life!

The Bible says you were “marvelously made” (Psalms 139:14) — God didn’t come into your life just to take away all the remnants of that marvelous creation — he came to use them all with you. Christians call these gifts: “spiritual gifts”

Paul talks about different people having different spiritual gifts, some have the gift of prophecy, praying, evangelizing, etc… each of the gifts are just as important– because they all have a place in God’s plan!

Let me give you an example from my own life…

For some reason, I seem to be pretty gifted at sales and marketing… specifically internet marketing. I started my own business doing marketing consulting and copywriting (writing advertising copy) two years ago and it’s growing strong.

And I really felt deeply that I want to share this message of Grace and who we are in Christ…

So I didn’t go out and try to be the next great speaker … or walk up to people with tracks in my hand … or anything like that. I’m starting where my talents are and going from there.

It’s cool how God works this thing out :)

5 Things I’m grateful for today:

  1. I woke up with a positive attitude about this fast approaching deadline.
  2. It’s supposed to get up to 66 today–and 72 tomorrow!!!!
  3. I snatched a 70lb kettlebell a couple times with my bad wrist yesterday and it feels STRONGER today!
  4. COFFEE. Nuff’ said :)
  5. Being born in America. In the internet age. seriously. my life would be SO different without the internet!
