Why You Are Not Positionally Righteous In Christ

Watch the video below by Steve Mcvey, its about Christian Religion Lie #83: “You are positionally righteous” and my comments follow…

Some people want to read the Bible and instead of accepting what it plainly says, they take their own views and figure out a way to make the Bible fit it.

This is one of those things — being “positionally righteous”

What does the Bible say?

See, the Bible says you’re righteous, Holy, set apart, etc… but people look at their own BEHAVIOR and the way they view themselves… and come to the conclusion “I must not be righteous”… “so when the Bible says I’m righteous it only means positionally, not literally”..

This makes sense, until you…

Consider Adam

Romans 5:19 (NIV) says:

“For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.”

So look at this and ask yourself:

Because of Adam’s sin are you literally sinful… or… positionally sinful at birth? You are literally sinful, it’s a state you were already in (before Christ). So by the same logic you are now (because you’re in Christ) literally righteous!

Not in the future — You already ARE righteous

Many people will notice the world “... will be made righteous…” in the above verse and suppose that this means we are growing “into” righteousness, that we’re not there yet. Perhaps maybe when we get to heaven we’ll be righteous?

But again looking at Adam and his effect on you, you don’t have to wait to get to hell to become “sinful”– you were born into it. It’s the same thing that happens when you are “born again” in Christ — you are instantly righteous.

So don’t believe this lie anymore that you aren’t righteous in Christ (literally).

It’s has nothing to do with how you act, who you are, or what you’ve done… it has EVERYTHING to do with what Christ has ALREADY done — and what He has done is made you righteous again.

With Love :)
