Watch the video below by Steve Mcvey, its about Christian Religion Lie #83: “You are positionally righteous”and my comments follow…
Some people want to read the Bible and instead of accepting what it plainly says, they take their own views and figure out a way to make the Bible fit it.
This is one of those things — being “positionally righteous”
What does the Bible say?
See, the Bible says you’re righteous, Holy, set apart, etc… but people look at their own BEHAVIOR and the way they view themselves… and come to the conclusion “I must not be righteous”… “so when the Bible says I’m righteous it only means positionally, not literally”..

This sounds good, that the more we “Serve” Christ the closer we’ll grow to Him… but it’s actually the OPPOSITE of what usually happens.
Service usually gets in the way!
You see, us Christians tend to get so focused on “serving Christ” that it’s no longer about Him, it’s about us, about how much we’re doing how much we’re feeding our egos–we’re distracted from the very one who it’s all supposed to be about.
Today, I was planning on writing another post on the next in the series of Christian lies.
That was the plan. But you know how the saying goes…
If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans!
Now, this isn’t some horrible thing that happened to me. But it seems there was a technical snafu that’s going to keep me from doing that today.
At this moment, when things go wrong, you have two basic choices:
Grumble that things went wrong, didn’t go “according to plan” and choose to suffer…
Accept that something happened. It didn’t go according to YOUR plan… but… it must be according to God’s plan and “go with the flow” so to speak.
You see, God has a plan for everything. And no matter how much we think “things are screwed up” or “I screwed something up”… it is all working out exactly as God has planned…

Ahh, this one is funny. Cause I heard it all the time growing. It’s pitched as a way to “always make sure you’re doing the “right thing”".
Basically the idea is that you need someone to meet with once a week or so to tell all your darkest secrets to. The idea is if you have someone like this in your life, who you know you have to tell the truth to then you’ll be so embarrassed when confessing your sins to him each week–that it will keep you from sinning.

I never really heard this one told to me when I was growing up. But it seems to be prevelant. Basically it goes like this:
“If you’re not following the “party line” (following the church, or pastor) then you’re taken out of the “covering” or protection of the church. Basically you don’t get any protection from the world or devil because you’re not in the church”.
Watch the video below by Steve Mcvey, Christian Religion Lie #74 “Your Heart Is Desperately Wicked“ and my comments follow…
This is an old testament saying–an old testament quote–an old covenant idea (Jeremiah 17:9).
But we are not under the old covenant… the old law… the old testament “way of doing things”. Nope. Christ was the fulfillment of all that and with His death, burial, and resurrection completed all that and finished it once and for all.
And now, because of God’s new covenant with us — through Christ you have a new heart…
