Christian Lie #5: Your sins are under the blood of Jesus…

Watch the vid below from my main man Steve McVey and my comments follow:

Are you beginning to see how many of the phrases you’ve come to accept… maybe even use yourself… aren’t really true?To some it may seem like semantics, but I truly believe that the more you catch yourself saying things that aren’t Biblically true, the more you can “renew” your mind to realize who you really are in Christ and that will flow out into every area of your life.

Here’s why this Lie is no good…

As Steve pointed out the old testament priests used to use animal sacrifices, their blood to cover up the sins of the people… BUT this only accounted for the sins the people had already committed and it would have to be done over and over and over again in the future (because the people are all human and are going to sin in the future)….

This lie makes a parallel to Christ’s blood from the cross covering up or accounting for your sins.

The reason why that’s a dangerous misconception is that Christ didn’t just cover up your sins… or forgive you for them… he totally took them away at the cross.

He forgave you for ALL the sins you ever committed… and ALL the sins you are ever going to commit in the future (if that seems hard to wrap your head around, just think about this: when Christ was crucified all your sins were in the future)

And He completely took them away from you — “as far as the east is from the west” — as the Bible puts it (Psalms 103:12)

Your sins weren’t just covered up — They were REMOVED!

So His blood didn’t just cover up your sins…

… it didn’t just forgive you of your sins and leave you to go at trying to be a “good Christian” by yourself…

… NO! He completely removed them — so that He could place His very LIFE into you… so that you could have life, and have it more abundantly.

Now that’s some Good News right there!

Once again — we aint lyin, all this is in your B-I-B-L-E, check it: Hebrews 9:26, John 3:5
