Christ does NOT want to be first place in your life!

Watch Steve’s vid: Christian Religion Lie #15: “Christ wants to be first place in your life” and then my comments follow…

I heard this LIE all the time when I was growing up.

It gets taught from the pulpit on sundays… it gets chanted at youth rallies… and it always sounds so deceptively correct.

After all, it sounds like it should be a “good Christian” thing to do right?

If Christ is first place in your life, then you’re doing something right — you’re putting Him above all else right?

He’s first… then your family… then work… then everything else — sounds correct right?

WRONG!

Christ is NOT first place in your life — He IS your life!

In case you think we’re making this up. That there’s no Biblical basis for calling this popular saying a LIE, you can look it up yourself:

Paul put it this way in Colossians 3:3-4 (the message, emphasis mine)…

Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too—the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ.

Then again in Acts 17:28 (Amplified Bible, emphasis mine)…

For in Him we live and move and have our being; as even some of your [own] poets have said, For we are also His offspring.

Also in Phillippians 1:21 (Amplified Bible, emphasis mine)…

For me to live is Christ [His life in me], and to die is gain [the gain of the glory of eternity].

If Christ IS your life, then you can’t put Him first place (or second, or third for that matter)… He can only BE one thing — your life… expressed through you each day.

So why this advice to keep God first place in your life SOUNDS good, it’s nothing but a LIE!

What’s your experience with this Lie? Have you heard it before? Leave your comments below…
